On behalf of Uganda Wildlife Authority we are thrilled to announce the arrival of a precious new addition to the Nshongi gorilla group in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park born on August 8, 2024, the adult female Munini gave birth to a healthy baby mountain gorilla, marking a significant moment for conservation and the future of these majestic creatures.

Meet the Nshongi Gorilla Group

The Nshongi group is one of the most famous and largest gorilla families in Bwindi, located in the Rushaga sector. Known for its vibrant social structure and strong bonds, the group offers visitors a rare glimpse into the lives of these gentle giants. The birth of this new baby is a testament to the thriving ecosystem within the park, where these critically endangered mountain gorillas continue to flourish.
