5 Days Gorilla & Chimpanzee Safari

A primate tour consisting of a 5 days gorilla chimpanzee safari; it involves traveling to Bwindi impenetrable forest national park to do gorilla trekking and later proceeding to Kibale forest national park to do chimpanzee tracking and watch other primates such as the l’hoest monkey, blue monkey, vervet monkey, colobus monkeys and thereby ending your Uganda primate safari.

Primate tracking in Uganda is a much sought after activity with over six locations gazetted for primate tracking activities. and each location with a 99% chance to have a one on one encounter with Man’s closest relatives. Taking this 5 days Uganda Safari will increase your safari satisfactions, especially for the lover’s chimpanzees and gorillas.
With a mix of a variety of activities including a tour in Queen Elizabeth National Park for spectacular wildlife game drives and later combined with a relaxing cruise on the channel connecting both lake George and lake Edward, prepare to be stunned by the many schools of Hippos, Elephants and endless birds.

DAY 1: KAMPALA – BWINDI NATIONAL PARK
Your journey will start as early as 7:00 with pick up from your hotel by our guide. Drive southwest taking the Masaka- Mbarara road traversing the Kigezi Highlands (Approximately 8 – 10hours away). You will have lunch en-route and later continue further down south arriving in Bwindi in the evening. Check in at the lodge, dinner, and overnight.

DAY 2: GORILLA TRACKING
After breakfast and with packed lunch you will transfer to the park headquarters to join other trackers for a briefing and then later commence the gorilla trek along the tracks in the thick forest searching for these great apes. Carry with you packed lunch and a bottle of water, later in the evening, transfer back to the lodge. In the evening, we can organize a community walk into the local community.

DAY 3: TRANSFER TO KIBALE FOREST NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast transfer to Kibale Forest National Park. The journey will take you through the small homestead and towns like Kasese town that was commonly known for its copper mining during the colonial era (Approximately 5 – 6hours away). You will proceed to Fort Portal town arriving in the evening at your lodge.

Day 4: CHIMPANZEE TRACKING AND SWAMP WALK
This morning after breakfast drive to the park headquarters to join other trackers for a briefing and thereafter you will be taken for chimpanzee tracking through Kibale Forest National Park. After lunch, you will drive to Bigodi for a swamp walk. This wetland belongs to the community neighboring the park.

DAY 5: TRANSFER BACK TO ENTEBBE
After breakfast, proceed back to Kampala / Entebbe arriving in the afternoon to catch your onward flight (Approximately 5 – 6hours away). Reserved for evening flights. Lunch en-route.

  • All parks’ entrance fees

EXCLUSIONS

  • International airfares
  • Entry visa Uganda
  • Protective gears like garden gloves, rain court, etc.
  • Meals that are not part of your accommodation;
  • A porter for during the gorilla tracking (someone who carries your daypack);
  • Personal (medical/travel) insurance;
  • Government tax or park fees’ increase
  • Tips and gratuities to rangers, driver/guide, porter, hotel staff, etc.
  • All expenses of personal nature (e.g. drinks, laundry, optional activities, souvenirs, etc.).

PLEASE NOTE:
In case the mentioned lodges are not available during the requested period, we will do our best to book a lodge in the same class for you (of course we will only do this after consulting you). It is not possible to ‘reserve’ gorilla and chimpanzee permits so we will buy them only after your booking and down payment. Permits also depend on availability.

Since Gorillas are wild animals Gorilla trekking doesn’t 100% guarantee you seeing the gorillas although chances of seeing them are about 98% Since chimpanzees are also wild animals tracking them doesn’t guarantee 100% of seeing them but has higher chances of about 98%.
