Day Life In Uganda
We have thousands of miles of glorious shores, with beach gems dotted along its length. Whether you’re a trendy sun worshipper, a water sports fanatic, a beach comber or a family seeking sea and fun Uganda’s got a beach that’s perfect for you. More than 80percent of the Beaches in Uganda are situated in Entebbe or along the Entebbe – Kampala Road. At these Beaches, Ugandans and visitors to Uganda spend a lot of quality time with their families and friends enjoying themselves.
The beaches tend to attract big crowds on weekends and public holidays. The main attractions at the beaches include swimming and eating the whole tilapia fish. The following a list of some popular beaches in Uganda:
Imperial Resort Beaches
Located approximately 42 km by Road from Kampala, Uganda’s Capital City. These are two fine beaches situated close and maintained each by Imperial Resort Hotel and the Imperial Botanical Hotel.
Botanical Garden Beach
This is found next to Botanical Garden and one has the chance to see many rare birds, exotic trees and plants.
One love Beach
Owned by a famous Ugandan Artist, Bobi Wine. One Love Beach is located in Busabala and visitors to the beach can have a sunbath, beach walks and among other activities.
Nabinyonya Resort Beach
It is about 30km from Kampala and is preferred mainly by youths and families. Nabinonya is a very beautiful beach and has a campsite nearby. This is a quiet secluded lakeshore beach with a lovely site of the remnant forest inhabited by Red Tailed Monkeys and plenty of bird life. The beach has a number of snacks and drink kiosks.
Aero Beach
This is located 1 km from Entebbe International Airport. Aero Beach shares neighborhood with Lido Beach Entebbe.
Lido Beach
Lido Beach is one of the oldest Beaches in Entebbe located approximately 1km from the Entebbe International Airport. It is blessed with white sand and is perfect for volleyball. At Lido beach, guests can take boat rides at a fee. Meals are also served on order.
Lutembe Beach
Located after Kajjansi along Kampala -Entebbe Road at Namulanda. This Beach has a swimming pool for those who prefer swimming in pools. Access to the beach is free and camping around the beach is possible. Lutembe Beach is an important area for conservation of the White-winged Terns in Uganda, which makes it a place of particular interest for all bird watching enthusiasts.
Nabugabo Sand Beach
Lake Nabugabo is situated 20km East of Masaka. It is the lake that gives life to the Nabugabo Sand Beach. This lake is 5km from Nyendo on Masaka –Kampala Road.
Ssese Islands
The Ssese Islands are an archipelago of eighty-four (84) islands in the northwestern part of Lake Victoria in Uganda. The islands make up Kalangala District in Central Region.The islands have most of Lake Victoria’s best sandy beaches.
Munyonyo Beach
Munyonyo Beach is located just 12km away from Kampala and is maintained by the Munyonyo Resort Hotel. Various leisure activities take place including a trip to the nearby islands, hiring a speedboat or a canoe and riding a horse among other many activities.
Anderita Beach
Anderita is a small Beach at the shores of Lake Victoria in Entebbe. Located on Plot 5 along Mambi Road.
Serena Resort Beach
The Serena Resort Beach is located 15km away from Kampala in the Kigo area. Access to the beach is restricted only guests of the hotel. The Beach is surrounded by lush greenery, and is suitable for various water activities. In the near future one would be able to play a game of golf on the new course which under construction.
Bulago
The delightful island located 20kms East of Entebbe also gives life to some of the most beautiful beaches in Uganda. Ssese Gateway Beach
Located on Kampala -Entebbe Road in Kitinda, Kitubulu about 30km from Kampala. Ssese Gateway Beach has motorized boats for hire.
