Uganda Gorilla Permit Cost 2026: Complete Pricing & Booking Guide
The Uganda gorilla trekking permit is the single biggest fixed cost of any Uganda gorilla safari — and understanding it helps you budget accurately and book at the right time.
Uganda Gorilla Permit Cost 2026
Standard Gorilla Trekking Permit: USD $800 per person (1 hour with the gorilla family). Gorilla Habituation Permit: USD $1,500 per person (4 hours with a semi-habituated family — only available in Rushaga sector, Bwindi). These rates are set by Uganda Wildlife Authority and are non-negotiable.
What the USD $800 Permit Includes
One gorilla trekking experience, up to 1 hour with the family, all park entry fees for the day, armed ranger escort, professional gorilla guide/tracker and a gorilla trekking certificate. Not included: accommodation, meals, transport (these are part of TripCare Adventure’s full packages).
When to Book
Peak season (June–September, December–February): 3–6 months ahead. Shoulder season: 1–3 months ahead. Low season (April–May): 2–4 weeks sometimes sufficient. Don’t risk arriving without a permit — peak season dates sell out months in advance.
Uganda vs Rwanda Permit Value
Uganda: USD $800. Rwanda: USD $1,500. For a group of 4, Uganda permits save USD $2,800 — enough to fund extra nights or additional park activities.
