Bwindi Impenetrable Forest: Everything You Need to Know Before You Go
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest: Everything You Need to Know Before You Go
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is one of Africa’s most extraordinary places — a primordial montane rainforest that has existed continuously for over 25,000 years. UNESCO World Heritage listed and home to the world’s most significant mountain gorilla population, Bwindi is bucket-list territory.
The Four Gorilla Trekking Sectors of Bwindi
Buhoma (Northern): Most accessible, best for first-timers, widest accommodation range. Ruhija (Eastern): Higher altitude, cooler, less visited with excellent birding alongside gorillas. Rushaga (Southern): Most habituated families (8+), more permit availability and the only sector offering Gorilla Habituation Experience (4 hours). Nkuringo (Southwest): Remote, steep, dramatic scenery, adjacent to Congo border.
